Sharing Our Stories
Hear from our learning community who share their thoughts on leading, learning and playing at International.
I have learned so much from International’s community of mutual respect. Everyone is valued there from 6th grade to 12th grade. I’ve learned so much academically, including that I want to go into the sciences in my future. And through my role in ASB, I’ve learned leadership collaboration. I’ve learned how to plan and organize events, and I’ve learned how to communicate effectively with both my peers and my teachers. At International, the upperclassmen aren’t scary people who you never interact with; they become your role models. And when I leave IS, I know I will be an empathetic, independent and intelligent individual.
Besides the academic rigor and the small, tight-knit classes (not everyone's cup of tea but I like it), I'm glad to be a Titan because it's allowed me to become a better person. Throughout my years at IS, I've been surrounded by role models — teachers, staff and other students — who have shown me what it means to be kind, to be genuine, to be respectful, and to care not just for myself, but for others as well.
We are happy to be in Bellevue because of the innovative educational opportunities that make Bellevue School District unique — including the integration of Computer Science into our science classes. My daughter's favorite part of 8th grade science was the opportunity to learn how to use computer modeling to explore magnetism, including understanding conditional variables. The Bellevue Schools Foundation has been the key funding partner allowing Bellevue to offer relevant learning opportunities like these to every one of our students, ensuring they have the educational foundations to succeed in whatever they do.

International School has shaped me as a leader, learner and individual. IS has fostered my passion for community involvement, empowered me as a student leader, and been a place where I've found lifelong friends. Over the past seven years, my dedicated teachers have fueled my love for learning, both inside and outside the classroom. From analyzing historical writing to developing community-building initiatives, being a Titan has equipped me with valuable skills that will undoubtedly contribute to my growth beyond graduation.
International School is a great place to teach and to learn. My favorite, unique program at International School is Focus Week because students get an opportunity to explore cool learning opportunities outside the classroom. I really appreciate the effort and dedication students show toward learning and excellence. When students say “thank you” when exiting a classroom, I, in turn, always feel thankful for them as well. Because we are a small community, I really get to know the students throughout their seven years at IS and enjoy seeing their academic and personal growth. All these things make International School a rare oasis for learning.
