Career and Technical Education, commonly known as CTE, refers to education that combines academic and technical skills with industry knowledge and the training needed to succeed in current and emerging professions. CTE provides important pathways to success and offers each student opportunities to personalize their education based on their career interests and unique learning needs.
CTE at BSD
The CTE program at the Bellevue School District is dedicated to empowering students through a comprehensive sequence of exploratory, preparatory and advanced studies which leads students to fulfilling and productive post-secondary pathways, including:
- Architecture and Construction
- Arts, AV and Communications
- Automotive
- Culinary and Hospitality
- Health Science
- Horticulture
- Human Services
- Information Technology
- Marketing and Sales
- Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM)
Key Facts
- BSD offers a wide variety of CTE career pathways, offering students the opportunity to engage in hands-on learning.
- Middle school exploratory CTE courses are available to students starting in sixth grade and provide an initial exposure to concepts and skills that are developed in high school CTE courses.
- High school preparatory and advanced level courses offer students dual credit for college and/or an industry-recognized credential/certification.
- There are 40 courses eligible for college credit.
- All CTE courses available to BSD students meet the Career and Technical Education credit requirements for graduation.
BSD's CTE team recently presented a report to the school board, outlining new classes for the 2024-2025 school year (such as Computer Animation and Maritime Welding), access to CTE programs, and the CTE district plan.

Register for CTE Courses
Registration for CTE courses takes place each spring through the course selection process. Students and families can view CTE courses offered at their school in the Course Catalog.
