6th Grade Camp 2026

6th Grade Camp 2026

Hello 6th Grade Families!

We are so excited to start preparing for our upcoming 6th Grade Focus Week: Science Camp at beautiful YMCA Camp Orkila! We will be holding an information night on Wednesday, February 25th at 6:30pm here at IS. In the meantime, here is some basic information and details to help you begin to plan. Students will attend school on Monday, May 18 to engage in some introductory camp activities and meet their High School camp counselors and cabin groups. In the morning of Tuesday, May 19, we will leave for camp and we will return in the afternoon on Friday, May 22.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns!

Regards,

Abigail Horsfall horsfalla@bsd405.org

Forms to Complete

At the Information Night on 2/25 we will discuss the following items in more detail, these items need to be completed prior to your student attending camp with us.

1. Final Forms Permission Forms – all students must have both the parent and the student forms completed.

1. Orkila Waiver - all students must have a completed, signed waiver on file with YMCA Camp Orkila.

2. Packing List – students will bring their packed bag/sleeping bag/pillow to school on Monday, May 18; luggage will be packed onto a luggage truck and leave International School on Tuesday morning before students arrive. Last minute/day-of items such as toiletries and that day’s lunch may be carried in their day pack/backpack on Tuesday May 19.

Optional Forms

1. 3416P Exhibit A – This is the document that needs to be completed by you and your student’s healthcare provider if you will be sending any type of medication, including over-the-counter medication like Tylenol, Advil, Claritin, or Zyrtec. Your provider can fax the completed form directly to our office at 425-456-6565, or you can drop it off in the main office for our nurse Laura Menenberg (MenenbergL@bsd405.org). Please submit this form by May 1st to allow us time to organize the information, but you do not need to provide the medication itself until the morning of departure.

2. Dietary Restriction Form – If your student has SPECIAL DIET requirements, including Gluten Free, Vegan, Dairy Free, Soy free, etc. Please note you do not need to complete this form just for vegetarian options.

In addition to the above forms, your student will bring home a Behavior Contract document that must be signed by the student and parent and returned to us. Watch for this form on April 22nd! Students will also have the opportunity to sign up to purchase a packed school lunch for Tuesday, May 19th at that time.

Cost of Camp

The cost of 6th grade camp is $400. This will be added as a fee to the account for all 6th graders and families can pay for it online. For families who have applied for Free/Reduced Lunch with the district, this fee will be taken care of through that process. Please reach out to your student's counselor (Arty Christianto) if you need additional assistance. If there is a reason why your student is unable to attend camp this year, or if you need more information to make the right decision for your family, please contact Abi Horsfall by the end of February or speak with her at the Information Session on 2/25.
