Course Registration for 2025 - 2026 School Year
It is time to begin thinking about next year!!
Students are receiving information on the registration process for next year's courses in their Science classes. Students need to make course selections utilizing the online tool beginning March 10 and completing by March 30. The following information is provided to assist students and families in this process:
General Information
- BSD Course Catalog - a description of all courses offered in the district
- Information on how to Request Courses online
- Summary of International School course progression
Course Selection Sheets
Each grade level has specific courses that are available. Refer to the grade level for next year for course options in each subject.
- Course Selections for Next Year's 7th and 8th Graders
- Course Selections for Next Year's 9th and 10th Graders
- Course Selections for Next Year's 11th Graders
- Course Selections for Next Year's 12th Graders
Information on Course Options for Science and Computer Science
The areas that International School students have the most options are in two areas: which Science courses to take each year after the required Chemistry and Biology courses, and whether or not to take a Computer Science course (or two) in 11th/12th grade. Here is some information that is essential to review when making these decisions:
- AP Science Course Offerings for the next two years
- Computer Science Options at International School - an explanation of the different course options
- IS Course Sequencing for Computer Science - a guide on replacement options to fit in Computer Science courses
Family Review of Student Course Selections
We encourage parents and guardians to work with their student on course selection for next year. To ensure transparency around course selection, parents and guardians may review the courses selected in ParentVUE using the "Course Request" tab on the left.
Some Common Questions
"My student is taking French 1A this year. What class do they take next?"
- At International School, students take "French 1" after taking "French 1A."
"My student is taking Integrated Arts this year as a 6th grader. What course is next?"
- After taking Integrated Arts, students choose to continue with either the Choir strand or the Visual Arts strand.
"Can my student make a change in their Fine Arts sequence?"
- Students are allowed to make one change in Fine Arts, but no later than 9th grade as courses after that level are dependent upon foundational skills. Some Fine Arts are easier to access later than others.
"My student is registering for classes and it says that he/she has more than seven credits. Is something wrong?"
- While students typically register for seven credits of courses that represent the seven classes students take, some high school students register for classes that count as more. A table indicated the courses that provide more credit is below. This is not a problem at the time of registration. It is a concern if your student does not have at least seven credits selected.
